Cincinnati Design Week 2024
Cincinnati Design Week is an annual multiple-day celebration featuring one of our city's biggest natural resources, design talent. This week of design programming is presented by AIGA Cincinnati.
Enter Cincinnati Design Week. The series of events running Monday through Friday, which includes international design conference off and an event featuring Pinterest design manager Brian Singer, are expected to bring hundreds of members of Greater Cincinnati's design community together.
They're also designed to foster the region's creative talent, which is something that all "progressive, forwarding-thinking and modern city" strive to do, said Raphaela Platow, director of the Contemporary Arts Center in Downtown Cincinnati. For a city that's trying to grab every opportunity to gain international attention, Jerry Kathman, president and CEO of global branding agency LPK, said these types of events matter.
The concept for Cincinnati Design Week, which is now in its fourth year, has been borrowed from other cities hosting similar events, said Ryan Cayabyab, an independent web designer and website developer. The premise: If people within Cincinnati's design community could be brought together, there's a chance they would be more likely to stay in the area.
During the first Cincinnati Design Week, the goal was to organize five events that could get creative workers from around the region to attend. Panel discussions, networking and other types of Design Week events now average about twice as many people than those hosted in the first year, Cayabyab said. About 130 people are expected to attend the Oct. 2 keynote event. Less than two weeks ago, more than 50 people attended the AIGA Cincinnati sponsored an "agency crawl," which functioned as an open house for a handful of branding, design and technology firms in Downtown Cincinnati and Over-the-Rhine.
